Become a foster carer

It usually takes around six months to be approved as a foster carer and matched with your first child, children or young person. The experienced team here at Foster East is here to help every step of the way.

Pre-approval training

During pre-approval training, you'll find out more about the role of a foster carer and the team of professionals you will join. You'll learn about looked after children, gain skills to support children and young people, and learn how to maintain links with their families.

Coaching and support

You're bound to have questions about fostering. We can connect you to an experienced foster carer who can help you with your questions and give you a foster parent's point of view.

On-going training and support

After being approved as a foster carer, your learning will continue. We have a wide range of free courses you can attend to help you develop your skills further.
