Transferring to your council

Local authorities are best placed to match foster families with the children in our care. We offer superb support networks, generous allowances, excellent training opportunities and a dedicated team to give you the confidence you need to foster.

Approved foster carers can transfer to your local authority where you will be warmly welcomed. A fast-track process will help you transfer. Bespoke training packages and opportunities to meet foster carers will be provided to help you get up to speed, become part of our friendly fostering community, and fostering with us as soon as possible.

You can transfer to your local authority if you:

  • Are an approved foster carer
  • Are already registered with a fostering agency
  • Feel that working directly with your local authority would be right for you

As there is no middle agency to deal with the matching process is great. Everyone you're dealing with (such as social workers) work for the same organisation, so everything feels more joined up - resulting in better communication and quicker decision-making.
